Remote Working Challenge

Following the COVID-19 lockdown many companies faced the challenge of how to connect all their homeworking employees to office servers, securely drawing on centralised software licencing regimes that many software company’s employ.  Integrated Design Management, a design house using CATIA V5 supplied by Desktop Engineering (DTE), faced this problem of continuing their operations.

Prepared solutions

Fully aware of this challenge, DTE had prepared and launched an answer within a day of the official announcement of lockdown. Employing a software solution from Hamachi for configuring a Virtual Private Network (VPN), remote teams can connect securely to office-based networks and servers.

Integrated Design Management (IDM) immediately took up the free offer and within a couple of hours DTE’s support team had configured, tested and trained them in its use.

Now, after 3 weeks of use, Paul Blackburn, Director of IDM commented

“The support DTE has provided by supplying our business with Hamachi VPN, and helping set this up has been amazing. Working from home has never been so efficient, and server access is seamless ..”
